Instructions for updating your Speedtype account

What is your Speedtype?

Your speedtype is a 10 digit account code that is used for paying services provided on the UC Berkeley campus, including the NMR spectrometers in the PMRC Core. It often contains a combination of letters and numbers (e.g. CC00050001) and you can get the correct account info based on your funding from your PI, group admin, or your mentor.

How to update your Speedtype?

There are two different platforms for which your speedtype account is stored for accessing the NMR spectrometers: FOM scheduling system and the automated spectrometers. You have to update both sides in order to avoid charging invalid speedtypes.

The first one, FOM scheduling system, is where the access to manually controled spectrometers is managed and you can update your Speedtype via the "My Accounts" section on the landing page:

Left menu on the FOM landing page.

Make sure to deactivate the old accounts by unchecking the "Is Active?" option from the list, add the new account in the subsequent menu, and set it as the default one:

Options menu in the My Accounts tab

For updating the speedtypes used on automated NMR spectrometers, you have to contact the NMR staff at pmrc_core@lists.berkeley.edu(link sends e-mail) in order to make permanent changes. However, the speedtype information on individual experiments run on the Bruker instruments can be updated using the IconNMR interface by clicking the edit button on the Title/Originator column, entering the correct account info on the Speedtype option, and confirming by clicking Set Title:

This has to be repeatead for each sample entry. Updating your speedtype for individual experiments is currently not possible on the software interface of the JEOL instruments and you need to contact the NMR staff in order to make permanent changes.
