Authorship Guidance & Policies
The policy regarding the consideration of PMRC technical staff for authorship beyond the routine applications and training is that of American Chemical Society. As per the Ethical Guidlines for Publication of Chemical Research by the ACS:
"The co-authors of a paper should be all those persons who have made significant scientific contributions to the work reported and who share responsibility and accountability for the results. Authors should appropriately recognize the contributions of technical staff and data professionals. Other contributions should be indicated in a footnote or an “Acknowledgments” section."
Authors are encouraged to discuss authorship (including inclusion/exclusion as well as author order) at the start of a research project and continue this ongoing discussion throughout the research and publication process.
How to Acknowledge the PMRC Core Facility in Publications?
The Pines Magnetic Resonance Center supports over 500 researchers annually. It is critical for the mission of the PMRC that our researchers properly acknowledge the support for the resources provided, whether it is instrumentation, staff support or other funding.
